At 40, my boss told me I was too old for the salon floor
All the younger, blonde stylists could stay. But me? Off to teach beauty school, he said. That's just what happened to hairdressers who turned 40.
I said no.
But the truth is, I’d always felt that judgment. Years before, as a rancher’s wife, I’d saved for months just to afford a $25 haircut. Then I’d worry about what to wear, feeling sized up at the door, wondering if I belonged.
Because your most beautiful years aren't behind you.
They're right now.
So in 1998, I opened The Sanctuary with one rule: No judgment at the door. No age limits on beauty. Just genuine care for women who spend their lives taking care of everyone else.
I don't believe in anti-aging. I believe in aging vibrantly — in celebrating the wisdom behind every line on your face, in treatments customized for who you are today, in an unhurried space where you're truly seen.
